Hi, I'm Bek.

I’m the photographer behind Pricey Shots.

I started with birds and wildlife, where you learn very quickly that your subject has absolutely no interest in your plans. You watch. You wait. You learn to anticipate movement before it happens.

That way of shooting followed me into everything else.

I’m far more interested in the laugh after the posed photo than the pose itself. The muddy knees. The glance across a room. The athlete bent over after the finish line. The child who has already wandered off while everyone else is still trying to organise themselves.

Those are the moments I look for.

I photograph the moments that happen when people stop worrying about the camera.

Photography without the performance

My style is documentary-led, relaxed and grounded in what is actually happening in front of me.

I’ll give direction when it helps, especially if you’re unsure what to do with your hands or where to stand, but I don’t want every photograph to feel arranged.

You don’t need to know how to pose. Your kids don’t need to behave perfectly. Your event doesn’t need to run to schedule.

Real life usually photographs better anyway.

From wild things to real life

Wildlife photography taught me patience, timing and how to work with subjects I can’t control.

Sport taught me to read movement.

Events taught me to notice what is happening at the edges of the room.

People taught me that some of the best photographs happen half a second after everyone thinks the moment is over.

Pricey Shots brings all of that together.
